Privacy policy: Kayabyte apps for Mac

This policy explains what data the macOS apps published by Kayabyte, the trading name of Caner Kaya, Stasjonsveien 64, 0771 Oslo, Norway (we, us), handle. Where an app handles data in a way this page does not cover, that app’s own page says so, and this page is updated before the app is published.

Your files and content stay on your Mac

The apps do their work on your Mac. Your files, documents and anything you create with an app are not sent to us or to anyone else.

What the apps send over the internet

• Update checks (direct downloads only). The app downloads an update feed from kayabyte.dev to see if a new version exists. The request includes your app version and macOS version, as any web request does with its IP address. You can switch automatic checks off in the app.
• Licence checks (paid direct downloads only). When you activate or verify a licence, the app sends the licence key and an anonymous identifier for your Mac to our licence service so the licence can be limited to three Macs.
• Nothing else. The apps contain no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics. If we ever add anonymous usage statistics, they will be off until you switch them on.

Purchases

Direct purchases are processed by our reseller and Merchant of Record (Paddle.com or Stripe), which collects your payment details, email address and billing country under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, country, the product bought and the order status, never your full card details. We keep order records as Norwegian bookkeeping law requires. Mac App Store purchases are handled by Apple; we do not receive your personal details from Apple.

Support email

If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you, and delete support conversations 24 months after they end.

Sub-processors

• Cloudflare, Inc.: hosts kayabyte.dev, the update feed and the licence service.
• Paddle.com Market Ltd or Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.: checkout, billing and tax, as the Merchant of Record.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you by emailing support@kayabyte.dev; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
