Wix event capacity and waitlist options compared

By Caner Kaya, Kayabyte

Disclosure: I make Event Capacity & Waitlist, one of the options below. I’ve tried to describe every option fairly, including where mine is not the best choice. Prices, ratings and review counts are copied from each app’s own App Market page (checked 24 Oct 2026). Where a page doesn’t say something, the table says “not stated” instead of guessing.

This page is for Wix Events users with two common problems: one room size shared by several ticket types, and people asking to be told when a sold-out event has tickets again.

The short answer

“From $X a month” means the price the App Market shows with yearly billing; monthly billing costs more. Review averages are out of 5. “Not stated” means the App Market page doesn’t mention it; the app may still do it, so ask the developer.

Wix Events on its own

Ticket quantity per ticket type

Each ticket type has its own Ticket quantity: choose Limited number of tickets available and enter the number. On the event’s Settings tab, Ticket settings also has a Ticket limit per order, up to 50 (Wix guide).

What’s missing is a total for the event. Wix says so in a feature request: “You cannot set a general ticket limit of how many tickets you can sell per event.”

Fits best: events where each ticket type has its own fixed number of places, such as 20 VIP and 100 standard.

One ticket type with price options

When you create a ticket, the Price options pricing method sells one ticket type at several prices, such as adult, student and senior (Wix guide). Set the ticket’s quantity to your room size and every price sells from that one number. Buy two test tickets at different prices and check the count goes down for both before you publish.

The catch: price options share one name, one description and one sale period. Early bird tickets that stop selling on a date, or a VIP ticket with its own description, have to be separate ticket types again.

Fits best: one room, one kind of ticket, several prices.

Seating map

On the Tickets and Seating tab, Create a Seating Map lets you draw rows, tables and areas. An Area has Total spots, which works for standing room (Wix guide). The map caps the event at its seats and spots. Each seat or area is linked to a ticket type, so two ticket types can’t share the same free places.

Fits best: venues with real seats, tables or clearly separate areas.

RSVP events with a waitlist

For RSVP events, Registration settings has Limited guests with a Max number of guests, and you choose Add guests to a waitlist for when it’s full. When you raise the guest limit, Wix sends an automated email to waitlisted guests, and “additional spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis”. You can also move a guest from Waitlist to Going by hand on the Guests tab (Wix guide).

The same article says: “Waitlists are not available for ticketed events.” Wix lists it as a feature request.

Fits best: free events, workshops and meetups where you don’t sell tickets.

App Market apps

Event Ticket Waitlist (PURPLE)

Event Ticket Waitlist adds a waitlist to ticketed events when “an event or specific ticket type is sold out”. Visitors leave their name, email and how many tickets they want. You can keep separate waitlists for ticket types such as VIP or Early Bird, and when tickets come back, “notify selected customers or your entire waitlist”. The free plan covers 1 active event, up to 25 sign-ups a month, with PURPLE branding. Core (from $4.90 a month) covers 3 events and adds confirmation emails; Pro (from $6.30 a month) is unlimited and lists “Availability notifications”. No reviews yet. Its page doesn’t mention a shared limit across ticket types.

Fits best: a ticketed event that already has the right ticket limits and only needs a waitlist, including separate lists per ticket type.

FOMO Tickets for Events (Presto-Changeo)

FOMO Tickets for Events shows how many tickets are left on your event pages, with your own text and styles. Its FOMO plan can also show “a smaller number than your real inventory” that counts down and resets. It doesn’t change limits and has no waitlist. From $3.70 a month after a 10-day trial; 5.0 from 2 reviews.

Fits best: showing a tickets-left count when your limits already work.

Ticket Spot

Ticket Spot is its own ticketing platform with an embeddable checkout and a hosted event page, so you’d use it instead of Wix Events. It lists “capacity-controlled sessions”, PDF and wallet tickets, and a QR check-in app. Waitlists come with the Business plan (from $82.50 a month). The free plan covers free tickets for up to 20 attendees a month. 4.4 from 94 reviews, “Verified by Wix”.

Fits best: organisers who want check-in, wallet passes and waitlists in one system and don’t mind leaving Wix Events.

Event Capacity & Waitlist (mine)

Event Capacity & Waitlist works inside Wix Events. You set one total for the event, and every ticket type sells from that pool, while each type keeps its own limit if you set one. Ticket groups let several types share a limit of their own, such as VIP across sales rounds. Orders are checked against the tickets left. A counter can show “12 of 60 tickets left”, or what’s left per ticket type, on the event page.

When the event sells out, a “Join the waitlist” form appears on the event page. When tickets free up, because an order is cancelled or you raise the total, the app reports who is next in line to Wix Automations, so your own automation emails them. The dashboard lists everyone waiting, with a CSV export.

Free: 1 event, with shared capacity, the waitlist, the tickets-left counter, the waitlist dashboard and CSV, and the automation trigger. Pro ($8.99 a month, or $7.49 billed yearly, 14-day trial): every event, a pre-sale list that tells people when tickets go on sale, messages to ticket holders by ticket type, and payment reminders for manual-payment orders. No reviews yet.

Where it’s not the best fit:

Fits best: paid Wix Events with several ticket types for one room, a ticketed waitlist, and a tickets-left counter, on the free plan for one event.

FAQ

Can Wix Events set one ticket limit for the whole event? Not across different ticket types. Limits are per ticket type. One ticket type with price options, a seating map, or an app such as Event Capacity & Waitlist are the ways around it.

Can I add a waitlist to a paid event on Wix? Not with Wix Events alone; its waitlist is for RSVP events. Event Ticket Waitlist and Event Capacity & Waitlist add one to ticketed events.

Does the RSVP waitlist email people automatically? Yes. Wix says an automated email goes to waitlisted guests when you update the guest limit, and you can edit or turn off that email in the event’s settings.

How do I show “only 5 tickets left”? Event Capacity & Waitlist and FOMO Tickets for Events both show a tickets-left count on the event page.
