Wix booking fees, surcharges and deposits compared
By Caner Kaya, Kayabyte
Disclosure: I make Booking Fees & Surcharges and Handling & Checkout Fees, two of the options below. I’ve tried to describe every option fairly, including where mine are not the best choice. Prices, ratings and review counts are copied from each app’s own App Market page (checked 24 Oct 2026). Where a page doesn’t say something, the table says “not stated” instead of guessing.
This page covers extra charges on a Wix site: weekend or holiday surcharges and deposits for Wix Bookings, and handling, small-order or zone fees for Wix Stores.
The short answer
- A deposit for a booking: Wix Bookings has a built-in online deposit, a fixed amount per service. Check that it’s available on your site.
- A cancellation or no-show fee: built into Wix Bookings booking policies.
- Different prices by client type, length or staff member: Wix Bookings’ varied pricing.
- Paid extras the client chooses, like hot stones +15: Wix Bookings’ service add-ons.
- A surcharge Wix applies by itself for weekends, evenings, holidays, last-minute bookings or groups: Wix Bookings can’t price by date, so you need an app. Booking Fees & Surcharges (mine) is built for this; Custom Fees and Additional Fees & Charges also work with Bookings.
- A travel fee by distance for mobile services: MileCharge.
- One fee on every store order, fixed or a percentage: Wix’s own Additional fees in Checkout settings. Free.
- Store fees with conditions (below an order amount, some postcodes, some products, pickup): an app such as Checkout Fees & Surcharges, Custom Fee Rules or Handling & Checkout Fees.
- A fee by payment method, like cash on delivery or card: a payment-method fee app such as Cash on Delivery Fee or Custom Fees. Mine can’t do this.

“From $X a month” means the price the App Market shows with yearly billing; monthly billing costs more. Review averages are out of 5. “Not stated” means the App Market page doesn’t mention it; the app may still do it, so ask the developer.
Wix’s own options for bookings
Varied pricing and add-ons
In a service’s Price & payment section, Varied prices sets prices by client type or service, by duration, or by staff member. Wix notes clients can’t reschedule sessions bought with price options (Wix guide). Service add-ons are paid extras the client picks: up to 3 groups of 7 add-ons on appointments, 1 group on classes and courses.
Both are chosen by the client, so neither can enforce a weekend or holiday price. Wix says “it is not possible to set different prices for services based on the date of the booking” (feature request) and “it is not possible to add extra charges to services, such as a processing fee or a travel fee” (feature request). The free workaround is a separate weekend or holiday copy of a service, limited to those days or dates: how to set it up.
Deposits
Under Payment preferences, choose Online deposit and the rest in person and enter the deposit amount. Deposits are always paid online, and clients who pick a manual payment method don’t pay one. Wix also says: “This feature is not yet available for all users”, and deposits can’t be used with manual approval (Wix guide).
Cancellation and no-show fees
You can add a cancellation or no-show fee to a booking policy, depending on how close to the session the client cancels. Clients then enter card details at checkout, and you need a payment provider that supports saving cards.
Wix’s own options for store fees
- Handling fee on shipping rates: in Shipping, delivery & fulfillment, More Actions next to a region, Add handling fees, then choose the shipping rules it applies to. Customers see it next to the delivery rate (Wix guide).
- Additional fees at checkout: Wix’s preset options add “a percentage fee based on the order subtotal” or “a fixed fee to each order, for example, a $2 customization fee” (Wix guide). When I tested the templates on a site in October 2026 they asked only for a name and an amount, with no conditions. Step by step in Add a handling, packaging or service fee at Wix checkout.
App Market apps
For Wix Bookings
- Custom Fees by PSL works “with Store and Bookings”: a booking fee on one service, a service type or every booking, plus rules by country, postcode, weight, product, cart value, delivery method or payment method, with flat, percentage, tiered or per-item amounts. No monthly fee; after a free tier each month it takes “a small share of the fees we collect for you”. 5.0 from 3 reviews. Its page doesn’t mention day, time or date conditions. Fits best: a card or booking fee where a share of the fee suits you better than a monthly price.
- Additional Fees & Charges by Simcase adds mandatory or optional fees for “specific products, categories, or services”. From $2.25 a month after a 7-day trial; no reviews yet. Fits best: a fixed service fee on chosen services.
- MileCharge Worldwide by Booth Technologies adds a travel charge at checkout from the “real drivable road distance”, with included distance, price per mile or km, and one-way or return. From $8.99 a month, 14-day trial (MileCharge, from $6.71, is the same idea). Fits best: mobile services that travel to the client.
- Deposits & Partial Payments by sitething takes a percentage or fixed deposit at checkout and sends a link for the balance; it says “Paid Bookings services work too”. The free plan tracks 25 open balances; the Deposits plan is from $11.95 a month on a sale until 30 November 2026. Fits best: a percentage deposit, or balance reminders, which Wix’s fixed deposit doesn’t do.
For Wix Stores
- Checkout Fees & Surcharges by Baseplate Digital adds flat or percentage fees to every order, above or below a cart total, or for a product collection. Free for 1 active rule and up to 20 checkouts with a fee a month; Pro adds unlimited rules, stacked fees and collection triggers. 5.0 from 2 reviews. Fits best: a small-order fee on a low-volume store.
- Custom Fee Rules by MakkPress is free and sets fees “by cart total, payment method, shipping option, product or quantity”. MakkPress also has the free Surcharge & Checkout Fees for tariff and import fee lines. Fits best: conditional fees at no cost.
- Checkout Upsell - Custom Fees by PURPLE adds fees for all products or chosen collections and can show a fee notice on the product page. Free for fees on all products; Premium from $2.99 a month. Fits best: packaging or gift-wrap fees that shoppers should see before the cart.
- Checkout Fees & Add-Ons by PATHe covers both automatic fees and optional paid extras, such as gift wrapping or rush processing. From $4.25 a month for 1 fee. Fits best: optional extras the shopper ticks at checkout.
- Postal-zone and low-order delivery surcharges by Lumostera adds a surcharge for postcode prefixes or orders below an amount. Free for 2 rules. Fits best: a remote-area charge on top of your shipping.
- Payment-method fees: Cash on Delivery Fee by PowerUp Apps (free up to 20 COD orders a month) and Cash on Delivery | Fees by MakkPress (free) add a fee when the shopper picks cash on delivery. Test with a real checkout before you rely on it.
Wix also makes a free Colorado Retail Delivery Fee app for that state’s delivery fee.
Booking Fees & Surcharges (mine)
Booking Fees & Surcharges adds your surcharges to Wix Bookings at checkout, each as its own named line. A surcharge is a fixed amount per booking, a fixed amount per participant, or a percentage of the service price with an optional minimum and maximum. Conditions: days of the week, a start-time window (an evening window can run past midnight), dates (once, or every year), how soon the session starts, group size, chosen services and chosen staff. All conditions on a surcharge must hold. Days and times use your business’s time zone. Surcharges aren’t taxed unless you turn tax on for one. If anything goes wrong on the app’s side, no surcharge is added, so the booking can still go through.
Free: 1 surcharge at a time, set by day, time and date, fixed or percentage. Pro ($6.99 a month, or $5.83 billed yearly, 14-day trial): several surcharges at once, rules for chosen services and staff, last-minute and group size rules, and fees per participant. No reviews yet.
Where it’s not the best fit:
- Deposits. Mine doesn’t take deposits. Use Wix’s own deposit, or Deposits & Partial Payments for a percentage.
- Travel fees by distance. Mine has no distance rule. MileCharge does.
- Card or payment-method fees. Mine can’t see the payment method. Custom Fees lists fees by payment method.
- Discounts for quiet hours. Mine only adds fees, so it can’t lower a price.
- Showing the surcharge on the booking calendar. The service page still shows your base price, so mention weekend rates in the description.
Fits best: weekend, evening, holiday, last-minute or group surcharges on Wix Bookings without copying every service.

Handling & Checkout Fees (mine)
Handling & Checkout Fees adds fees to the Wix Stores cart and checkout, each as its own named line. A fee is a fixed amount or a percentage of the matching items’ subtotal, with an optional minimum and maximum. On Pro it can apply to chosen products, categories or collections, with conditions for the subtotal, ship-to countries and postcodes, and the delivery or pickup option, and tax can be switched on per fee. A location or delivery fee appears once the shopper has entered that detail.
Free: 1 fee on the whole order, fixed or percentage, with an optional minimum and maximum. Pro ($7.99 a month, or $6.66 billed yearly, 14-day trial): unlimited fees, product and category fees, subtotal, country, postcode and delivery conditions, and tax per fee. No reviews yet.
Where it’s not the best fit:
- One plain fee on every order. Wix’s own Additional fees does that for free. Mine’s free plan does the same, plus a minimum and maximum on percentage fees.
- A small-order fee for free. On mine, the subtotal condition is Pro. Checkout Fees & Surcharges (1 free rule) and Custom Fee Rules (free) list it on their free plans.
- Payment-method fees. Mine can’t charge by payment method. The cash on delivery apps and Custom Fee Rules list this.
- Bookings. Mine counts Wix Stores products only. Booking Fees & Surcharges is the bookings app.
- Optional extras the shopper ticks, like gift wrap. Mine only adds automatic fees. Checkout Fees & Add-Ons does optional ones.
Fits best: stores that need several fees with conditions, such as packaging on fragile products, a fee for some postcodes, and a pickup fee, each on its own line.

Whatever you pick
- Try Wix’s own settings first. Deposits, cancellation fees, varied prices and the checkout Additional fees are free and made by Wix.
- Name every fee clearly, such as “Weekend rate” or “Small order fee”, and mention it in the service or product description.
- Test a real checkout for each case: a weekday and a weekend booking, an order under and over the limit, a near and a far postcode.
- Don’t stack fee apps. Two apps adding fees to the same checkout are hard to keep consistent.
- Check your local rules on surcharges and card fees. Some countries limit them.
FAQ
Can Wix Bookings charge more on weekends? Not on the same service. Make a weekend copy of the service limited to those days, or use a surcharge app such as Booking Fees & Surcharges.
Can I take a percentage deposit in Wix Bookings? Wix’s built-in deposit is an amount you enter per service. For a percentage, or for balance reminders, Deposits & Partial Payments says it works with paid Bookings services.
How do I add a service fee to every order on Wix? Settings > Checkout > Additional fees, with the fixed or percentage template. It’s free.
Can I charge a fee for card payments or cash on delivery? Not with Wix’s fee templates when I checked. Cash on Delivery Fee, Cash on Delivery | Fees, Custom Fee Rules and Custom Fees list payment-method fees.
