What’s new in AlbumRescue

Version 1.0.0

Released 5 November 2026. First release.

• Finds Photos libraries on external drives (APFS, encrypted APFS once unlocked, HFS+, exFAT) and in Time Machine backups, or wherever you choose.
• Reads through a private copy of the database, so the library and the backup are only read.
• Falls back on the library’s change journals and on database salvage when a database is damaged or missing.
• Shows which originals are really on the disk, and why others cannot be saved.
• Compares a library with another one: albums, folders and items.
• Saves folders named after your albums with original files, XMP sidecars, a CSV report and a read-me. A stopped export continues where it stopped.
