How to share a monday.com board with clients
By Kayabyte
Short answer: monday.com gives you several built-in ways: invite clients as guests to a shareable board, send a shared board view link, collect input with a WorkForm, or share a Workdoc link. Guests need a login and can count towards your seats on some plans. A shared view link needs no login but exposes the view as it is, and dashboards only open for people with a monday account. If you want a live page per client that shows only their items and needs no account or seat, see Client View for monday.com.
Most teams start with the question “can my client just see the board?” The answer depends on your plan, on what the client should see, and on whether they should be able to edit. This guide goes through each built-in option step by step and says where it stops. Plan rules change, so check your plan on monday.com’s pricing page before you rely on any detail here. We checked monday.com’s support pages on 1 November 2026.
Guest access on a shareable board
Guests are people outside your company who can only see the boards they are invited to.
- Open the board. It must be a shareable board, not a main board.
- Click the Invite icon at the top of the board.
- Enter the client’s email address and choose Guest.
- The client gets an email, signs in or creates a monday account, and sees the boards they were invited to.
What to know:
- Guests are not available on the Free plan. monday.com’s support pages describe a limited number of free guests on lower paid plans, with further guests counted as billed seats, and unlimited guests on Pro and Enterprise. The pages we found were not fully consistent on the exact numbers, so check your plan.
- A guest’s email domain must differ from your account’s domain.
- Guests can work in the boards they are invited to. According to monday.com’s guest article, that can include creating items, commenting and editing columns, unless you restrict it with board permissions.
- Guests cannot create boards, invite other guests or become board owners.
Where it stops: every client needs an account and a login. The client sees the whole board unless you restrict it, so one board for many clients means building permissions carefully, or keeping one board per client. Guests can also cost seats on some plans.
A shared board view link
A board view can be shared with anyone who has the link. No account is needed.
- Open the board and the view you want to share.
- Click the three-dot menu on the view and choose Share.
- Copy the shareable link, or copy the embed code to put the view on a website.
- Send the link to your client.
Where it stops:
- Only the board owner can share a view.
- Hidden columns and columns with a restricted view are not shown publicly, and boards with item viewing permissions cannot be shared this way.
- Files in a Files column are not visible in a shared view.
- monday.com notes that filtered data can still be reached by technical users. Do not rely on a filter to hide something private.
- The view shows the board’s items, not a client-specific subset, so it is a poor fit when the board holds several clients.
- You can turn the shared view off at any time. If your account uses the HIPAA feature on Enterprise, sharing views is disabled.
Dashboards
Dashboards are good for summaries, but monday.com’s help article says they can only be shared with people who have a monday account. For people outside the account, it points to a PDF export or a board view with widgets.
- Open the dashboard.
- Use the Share option and add the people who should see it.
- Use the export option if you need to send a PDF.
Where it stops: no public link for clients without an account, and a PDF is a snapshot that goes out of date.
WorkForms
Forms work in the other direction: the client sends you information.
- Open the board and add the Form view (or create a WorkForm).
- Build the questions.
- Click Share form at the top right and copy the link, or embed the form.
Anyone with the link can submit without a monday account, unless you require sign-in. Each submission becomes a new item on the board.
Where it stops: the client sees the form, not your board. They cannot see status or progress afterwards. If you enable response editing, they can edit their own answer, but nothing more.
Workdocs
A Workdoc can be shared with a public link that people open without an account.
- Open the Workdoc.
- Click Share.
- Turn on the public link option and copy it.
Where it stops: the public version is read-only. As far as we could verify, it leaves out embedded boards, comments and attached files, so it works for a written update but not for live board data.
Client portals and vendor apps
The monday community and marketplace have apps that build a client-facing portal on top of your boards. Some have their own login, some publish selected items. They differ in price, in how live the data is, in what clients can do and in where your data is processed, so read each listing and ask what the client needs to sign up for. We have not tested them for this guide.
Where Client View helps
We make Client View for monday.com. It gives each client a live web page with their items from a monday board. The client opens a link and does not need a monday account, a login or a seat.
- You pick the client’s items (a group, or a column such as Client = Acme) and up to 12 columns they may see. The rest of the board stays private.
- The page shows a progress bar, status chips and your latest update. Files in a shared file column can be downloaded.
- Comments and approvals are optional and off by default. Comments arrive as updates on the item. An approval can set a status column.
- Links are long and random. You can add a password or a last day, replace a link or turn a page off.
- Pages refresh from your board every few minutes, and show at most 500 items.
- Pricing is on the pricing page. The Free plan has 1 live client page, and all plans include unlimited viewers.
Client View is not in the monday marketplace yet, because review is pending. You can install it with this link. Then add it to a board from + next to the board views, choose Apps, then Client View. An account admin approves it once, and board owners and admins can then create client pages.
FAQ
Do monday.com guests cost a seat? It depends on your plan. monday.com’s support pages describe a few free guests on lower paid plans, with additional guests grouped into billed seats, and unlimited guests on Pro and Enterprise. Guests are not available on the Free plan. Check your plan for the exact numbers.
Can I share a monday.com board with someone who has no account? Yes, with a shared board view link, a WorkForm link or a public Workdoc link. Each shows only what that feature supports, and the shared view is limited as described above. Dashboards need a monday account.
Can clients see only some columns or items? A shared view hides hidden and restricted columns, but it shows the board’s items. For a client-specific subset of items and columns, you need one board per client with guest access, or an app such as Client View.
Can clients edit my board? Guests can, depending on board permissions. Shared view links are for viewing. In Client View, clients can only comment or approve if you turn those on, and an approval only sets the status label you chose.
Does a shared view link show files? No. monday.com states that files in a Files column are not visible in a shared view. Client View can offer files from a column you share as downloads.
How do I stop sharing? Turn off the shared view from the board’s share settings, remove the guest from the board, or turn off the public Workdoc link. In Client View, turn the page off, replace its link or delete it.
