How to sync your Booking.com and Airbnb calendar with your Wix website
By Kayabyte
If you take room bookings on Booking.com or Airbnb and also on your own Wix site, the sites need to know about each other’s bookings. The simple way is iCal links: each site publishes a link with its booked nights, and the others read it every so often. It is free, but it is not instant, and it has rules on each side. This guide shows the steps and the limits, using the booking sites’ own help pages. Checked on 2 November 2026.
Disclosure: I make Hotel & B&B Booking System, an app for Wix sites that I mention at the end.
How iCal calendar sync works
An iCal link is a web address that returns a calendar file, often ending in .ics. For a room it lists booked or blocked nights. It has no prices, guest names or messages. Booking.com says to look for “/ical/” in the URL to be sure you have the right link.
Sync needs two links, one per direction:
- Export: each site gives you a link with its own bookings.
- Import: you paste the other site’s link into each site, and that site blocks those nights.
What does Wix offer natively?
Wix Hotels by HotelRunner has a one-way Airbnb iCal connection. Wix says availability goes from Wix to Airbnb, but rates and reservations do not come back and “No data will be received from Airbnb iCal”, so Airbnb reservations are entered by hand. It requires a Premium plan (Wix guide). For Booking.com it uses a channel connection instead, which replaces the calendar on Booking.com with the one in Wix (Wix guide). Wix Bookings is built for services and classes, not room stays.
Step 1: get the Booking.com link (export)
From Booking.com’s help (How to synchronize your calendars across channels):
- Sign in to the extranet.
- Click Rates & Availability, then Sync calendars.
- For the room you want, click Add calendar connection, then Skip to export if you don’t want to import yet.
- Name the connection and click Copy link.
Repeat for every room or unit you want to connect. Each room has its own link.
Step 2: get the Airbnb link (export)
From Airbnb’s help (Sync calendars):
- Click Calendar and select the listing.
- Click Availability.
- Under Connect calendars, click Connect to another website.
- Copy the Airbnb calendar link.
Step 3: import both links into your Wix site
Paste each link into whatever runs the booking calendar on your site, one link per room. If a link starts with webcal://, change it to https://. Your Wix site then blocks the nights booked on Booking.com and Airbnb.
Step 4: give your site’s link to Booking.com and Airbnb (import)
Your booking tool needs to give you its own export link with your direct bookings.
- Booking.com: in Rates & Availability > Sync calendars, click Add calendar connection on the room, paste your site’s link, name the connection (for example “Website”) and click Next step, then Done.
- Airbnb: in Calendar > Availability > Connect calendars > Connect to another website, paste a link ending in .ics into the calendar address field, name it and click Add calendar.
How often does each side update?
| Who reads the link | How often | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Booking.com | Imports automatically every two hours; Import now reads sooner | Booking.com help |
| Airbnb | Automatically every 3 hours; Refresh on a connected calendar checks sooner, a limited number of times | Airbnb help |
| Your Wix site | Depends on the tool you use |
Both sites say it plainly. Booking.com: calendars “aren’t synced in real time”, so bookings made elsewhere “won’t sync immediately”, which “can lead to double bookings. While this is rare, if it does happen, contact our team for support.” The slowest reader sets your risk: a booking on your site at 10:00 may not close those nights on Airbnb until around 13:00.
Booking.com’s rules you should check first
Booking.com’s calendar sync is not available to every property. Its help page lists these requirements:
- The property is open and bookable.
- You have Rates & Availability permission.
- The property has 20 room types or fewer.
- Each room type has a maximum of one unit.
- You don’t use a connectivity provider.
Booking.com gives this example: “Sea-view studio A” and “Sea-view studio B” as separate room types each with one unit is eligible, while “Standard double room” with five identical rooms under one room type is not. It suggests a connectivity provider (a channel manager) for properties that don’t qualify. If you sell five identical rooms as one room type on Booking.com, check your extranet for the Sync calendars option before you plan around iCal. Booking.com also states it has no sync option for Google Calendar.
How to keep the double-booking window small
- After a direct booking, click Refresh in Airbnb and, where available, ask Booking.com to read your link.
- After an Airbnb or Booking.com booking, use the import button of your own tool.
- Block popular dates by hand on each site when you are nearly full. Airbnb notes that nights blocked on another calendar “may or may not be blocked on Airbnb”.
- Don’t import a site’s own link back into itself, and don’t chain calendars through Google Calendar. Each hop adds a wait.
- Decide in advance what you do about a rare overlap: which booking you keep and what you offer the other guest.
An app that does both directions per room
Full disclosure: I built Hotel & B&B Booking System. Each room has its own calendar link with your confirmed direct bookings and blocked nights. You can import Booking.com, Airbnb, VRBO and Google Calendar links per room, and the app reads them about every 15 minutes. Nights imported from another site are not sent back out, so calendars don’t echo each other.
The limits stay: Booking.com and Airbnb read your link on their own schedule (up to two hours and about three hours), so an overlap is still possible in that window and the dashboard flags it so you can sort it out. iCal carries dates only, not prices. This is not a channel manager and doesn’t push rates to Booking.com.
FAQ
Is iCal sync real-time? No. Booking.com says up to two hours, Airbnb reads every 3 hours, and your own tool has its own schedule.
Can Wix import my Booking.com calendar? Wix Hotels by HotelRunner connects to Booking.com as a channel and replaces the calendar there rather than importing an iCal link. Check the Wix guide linked above for your version.
Does iCal sync prices or guest details? No, only booked or closed dates.
Why don’t I see “Sync calendars” in my Booking.com extranet? Your property may not meet Booking.com’s requirements, for example because a room type has more than one unit, or because a connectivity provider is connected.
Do I need a channel manager instead? If you have many rooms, or want rates pushed to the booking sites, probably yes. iCal fits small places that mostly take direct bookings.
