Privacy policy: Shipping Rate Rules

This policy explains what data the Wix app “Shipping Rate Rules” (the app), published by Kayabyte, the trading name of Caner Kaya, Stasjonsveien 64, 0771 Oslo, Norway (we, us), processes when it is installed on a Wix site. It adds to the privacy policy for Kayabyte apps for Wix, which also applies.

What the app does

The app lets a site owner create shipping options with their own prices and conditions. When a shopper’s cart or checkout needs shipping rates, Wix asks the app, and the app returns the options that fit.

Roles

The site owner is the controller for the data in their Wix site. Kayabyte acts as a processor that handles the data only to calculate shipping rates. Wix.com Ltd. hosts the app and its data and is a sub-processor.

Data the app stores

• The shipping options the site owner creates: names, delivery times, zones (countries, regions, postcodes), conditions, prices and the names and IDs of chosen product categories.
• A record of the site’s plan for the app.

This is kept in data collections the app creates in the site’s own Wix CMS, readable only by the app and the site owner’s dashboard. The app stores no shopper data.

Data the app reads but does not store

To calculate rates, the app reads from the request Wix sends: the cart lines (product, quantity, price and weight), the store’s weight unit and currency, and the destination country, region and postcode. When an option uses categories, it reads which categories the cart’s products belong to. It never reads shopper names, email addresses, phone numbers or street addresses.

Logs

For each rate request the app writes one technical log line in Wix’s hosting: the app instance ID, the request ID, the plan, how many options were checked and returned, whether a country and postcode were given (yes or no), the outcome and the time taken. Logs contain no address or personal data.

Plans and payments

The app reads the site’s plan for the app (free, trial or paid) from Wix to apply the plan limit. Paid plans are sold and billed by Wix. We never receive card details.

Cookies, tracking and third parties

The app sets no cookies on the site and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking services. No data is shared with third parties other than Wix, which hosts the app.

Retention and deletion

Options are kept while the app is installed. The site owner can delete them at any time in the app’s dashboard. When the app is removed from a site, its stored data for that site is deleted within 30 days. Site owners can ask for deletion at any time at support@kayabyte.dev.
