Can you block delivery to some postcodes on a Wix store? What Wix documents

By Kayabyte

Disclosure: I make Shipping Rate Rules, a Wix app that I describe near the end. The Wix parts below come from Wix’s own help pages and two forum threads, which I quote and link. I did not test these settings in a checkout for this page. Checked on 4 November 2026.

The short answer

The question

On the Wix forum, a shop owner asked: “Does any one know a way? To separate certain Scottish postcodes so that no deliveries can be shipped there without calling” (forum thread, September 2025). A Wix Team member replied that it “falls inline with” the feature request for shipping rules for different cities and counties. The thread shows no further answer.

That request page now says: “We’re excited to announce that it’s now possible to create unique shipping options for different cities by creating local delivery rules. When you define your delivery area, select the city or cities you want to deliver to” (Wix request). It talks about cities and unique shipping options, not about excluding postcodes.

In another thread, a shop owner wrote that postcode rates set up as local rates “works well in normal checkout but isn’t working with express”, where the shopper sees “shipping not available in your area” (forum thread, April 2026). So test express checkout buttons too if you use postcode rules.

What Wix documents

Regions. Wix’s article About Shipping, Delivery, and Pickup says “A region can be a country, a state or province in a country, or a group of countries”, and that Wix Stores starts with a Domestic and an International region. It also says: “If there’s no active shipping, local delivery, or pickup rule for a region set up in Wix or through a 3rd-party shipping app, customers from that region cannot make purchases from your store.”

Local delivery by postal code. Wix’s article Setting Up a Local Delivery Option lists four ways to define a delivery area: a radius around an address, postal codes, a map you draw, or cities. For postal codes it says you can “enter complete postal codes … or save time by entering partial postal codes with an asterisk”, and that “you can add up to 50 local delivery areas per region”.

What I could not find in these pages: a way to list postcodes to exclude, or a way to say that a postcode inside a region that has a normal shipping rule should be refused.

Ways to approach it

  1. List only what you deliver to. If your service area is small, define it with local delivery postal-code areas (up to 50 per region) and give regions you don’t serve no rule. Customers outside have no way to pay, and you should tell them on the site how to reach you.
  2. Keep a normal shipping rule and handle exceptions by hand. Put a note in the shipping information, and cancel and refund orders to places you don’t serve. It works at low volume.
  3. Ask Wix to confirm. Wix’s support is the place to confirm whether an exclusion is possible for your region.

I did not try these in a checkout.

Where Shipping Rate Rules fits (mine)

Shipping Rate Rules adds your own shipping options to the Wix Stores checkout. The details come from the app page as I read it on 4 November 2026. If the page differs, the page is right.

So the app helps you charge more for places such as the Highlands. It does not stop an order there.

See it on the Wix App Market.

FAQ

Can I stop Wix Stores delivering to certain postcodes? I found no exclusion setting. Wix says a region with no active rule can’t check out, and local delivery can be limited to postal codes, up to 50 areas per region.

Can I charge more instead of blocking? Yes, with a shipping option for those postcodes. Wix’s own rules are per region, and a shipping app can price by postcode zone.

Does express checkout follow postcode rules? One forum poster reported that postcode rates worked in normal checkout but not with express checkout. Test it before you rely on it.

What did you test? I read the Wix pages, the forum threads and the app page on 4 November 2026. I did not place an order against any of these settings.
