How to sell custom-size banners, stickers and signs on Wix
By Kayabyte
A print or sign shop sells the same product at many sizes: a vinyl banner, a window sticker, a yard sign. The price follows the area, with a minimum so tiny orders still pay for the setup. Wix Stores sells at a set price per product, so this takes a bit of setup. This guide walks through a typical shop, using our app, Custom Size Price Calculator. Full disclosure: Kayabyte makes it.
What Wix Stores does on its own
Wix Stores lets you add options such as material or finish, and each can add a fixed amount. It does not multiply a price by a width and height the customer types. If you only sell a few standard sizes, a Size option with a price per choice is enough. For anything custom, you need a calculator. The reasoning is in How to charge by square foot or square meter on Wix Stores.
What you need to decide
Before you set anything up, write down these numbers for each product:
- Price per ft² or m², for example $2.50 per ft².
- Minimum price, so a very small sticker still covers your time.
- Setup fee, if you charge one per item for artwork, a cutting file or a machine run.
- Rounding, for example sides rounded up to whole feet because you cut from rolls.
- Materials, each with its own price per unit.
- Size limits, the widest and tallest you can print.
Setup step by step
- Install the app from the Wix App Market on a site with Wix Stores.
- Create the product in Wix Stores and set its price to your rate per unit, for example $2.50 per ft².
- Add a Material option with a choice for each material, such as Vinyl, Mesh and Canvas, and give each its own price per unit. The calculator uses the price of the option the shopper picks.
- Open Price calculators in your dashboard and choose Banners & signs. Select the products, then set the unit, the setup fee, the minimum price and the size limits.
- To round sides up to whole feet, set Round each side up to to 1 (in feet), so 2.3 ft counts as 3 ft.
- Publish your site, open the product on your live site and place a test order at a few sizes.
If you don’t see the size boxes on a product, use Add to product page in the checklist.
Worked example
A banner shop charges $2.50 per ft² for vinyl and $3.40 per ft² for mesh, with a $5.00 setup fee, a $15.00 minimum and sides rounded up to whole feet.
A customer wants a mesh banner 2.3 ft by 4.1 ft.
- Rounded sides: 3 ft by 5 ft
- Area: 15 ft²
- 15 x $3.40 = $51.00, plus $5.00 setup = $56.00
For a 1 ft by 1 ft vinyl sticker, 1 x $2.50 + $5.00 = $7.50, so the $15.00 minimum applies and the customer pays $15.00.
The cart and the order show the size and a line such as “15 ft² x $3.40 + $5.00 setup”, so your production team can read exactly what to make.
Price tiers for bigger runs
On Pro, price tiers let the rate drop as the size grows, for example $3.00 per ft² up to 10 ft², $2.50 up to 50 ft² and $2.00 above. The rate of the tier the size falls into is used. Pro also has custom formulas and a weight per unit, so weight-based shipping rates see the right weight for a rolled banner.
Plans
Free covers 1 calculator on up to 3 products, with setup fee, minimum price, size limits and rounding. Pro is $9.99 per month with a 14-day free trial, billed by Wix.
