Several identical rooms on Wix Hotels: one room type or one per room?

By Kayabyte

Disclosure: I make Hotel & B&B Booking System, a booking app for Wix sites that I mention at the end. The Wix Hotels details below come from Wix’s own help pages, linked in each section. Checked on 4 November 2026.

Say you run a guesthouse with four identical double rooms. The natural setup is one room type, “Double room”, with four rooms behind it. Wix Hotels by HotelRunner has a field for that. But once you connect the channel manager, Wix’s own checklist tells you to do something different. This page explains the difference and what it means for a small place.

What Wix says about room types and numbers of rooms

When you add a room type, you fill in a number of rooms for it. Wix describes that field as the count of that specific room type you offer, for example the number of identical suites (Wix guide). So the product supports “four double rooms” in one room type.

What changes when the channel manager is connected

Wix’s checklist for connecting Wix Hotels to the channel manager has a step called “Avoid using multiple units”. It says Wix doesn’t fully support multiple units for room types connected to the channel manager, that including them can lead to double booking, and that it recommends creating room types with one unit each (Wix checklist).

Read that plainly: if you connect Booking.com, Airbnb or other channels through the channel manager, each room should be its own room type. Four identical doubles become four room types, for example Double 1 to Double 4.

The same checklist adds a second point that matters for small places. Marking a room “Not Available” in Wix Hotels doesn’t pass through to the channel manager, which could cause double bookings. Wix suggests creating a manual reservation for dates you want to block instead.

What that means in practice

I haven’t connected a hotel to the channel manager to test this, so this is my reading of Wix’s pages, not a test.

None of that is a reason to leave Wix Hotels if you need a real channel manager. It’s a reason to decide early: with channels connected, plan one room type per room. Without channels, the number-of-rooms field is the setup Wix describes, and the warning above is about the channel manager.

Options for a small place with identical rooms

  1. Stay on Wix Hotels with one room type per room. Best if you need the channel manager and rates pushed to channels, and have only a few rooms.
  2. Wix Hotels without channels. Keep one room type with several rooms and take direct bookings only. You lose the channel sync.
  3. A booking app with room types and calendar links. The route for guesthouses and B&Bs that sell on Booking.com or Airbnb but mainly want direct bookings and one simple calendar per room.

Where Hotel & B&B Booking System fits (mine)

Full disclosure: I built Hotel & B&B Booking System. It’s made for the identical-rooms case. On the points above:

Where it’s not the right fit: it’s not a channel manager. It syncs dates by calendar links, so it doesn’t push rates or room descriptions to Booking.com or Expedia, and imported nights are not sent back out. A booking made on another channel can overlap with a direct one in the minutes before the next import. The free plan has one room type, 5 online bookings a month and one synced calendar, and taking payments online needs a Wix Premium plan. For a 30-room hotel, Wix Hotels or a full system fits better.

FAQ

Can Wix Hotels have several rooms in one room type? Yes, the room type has a number of rooms. With the channel manager connected, Wix recommends one unit per room type because multiple units aren’t fully supported and can cause double booking.

Does “Not Available” in Wix Hotels update Booking.com? Wix says it doesn’t reach the channel manager and suggests a manual reservation for blocked dates.

Is Hotel & B&B Booking System a channel manager? No. It syncs dates through calendar links and doesn’t push rates.
