Multi-week dog boarding and training on Wix: why a course or appointment doesn’t fit, and what does

By Kayabyte

Disclosure: I make Pet Boarding: Kennel & Daycare, a Wix app that I describe near the end. The Wix parts below come from Wix’s own help pages and one forum thread, which I quote and link. I did not test these workarounds on a live site for this page. Checked on 4 November 2026.

The short answer

The question

On the Wix forum, a web designer building a site for a dog trainer wrote that they want to offer “1-4 week boarding and training”. Set up as a course, Wix asks how long each session goes and shows a start date, and the page says “ended” with a message that the service isn’t being offered. They want clients to book “a week or more” with a flat fee such as “1 wk = $1800, 2 wk = $2800” (forum thread). The thread (July 2025) shows two posts, both from the person who asked, and no answer.

Why the course doesn’t fit

Wix’s article Creating a Course says: “Courses are a great way to offer services with multiple sessions that start and end on specific dates.” Its example is “a five-week pottery course that meets once a week from March 1st to March 29th.” A course is a fixed schedule that people join. A boarding stay is different for each client, which fits what the forum poster saw: a course date that shows as “ended”.

Why the appointment doesn’t fit

Wix’s feature request page says: “It is not currently possible to create multi-day appointments in Wix Bookings. As a workaround, you can set a custom duration of up to 99 hours for an appointment” (Wix request). That covers a short boarding stay, not 1 to 4 weeks.

A manual route: a Stores product with duration options and a start date

This is my reading of Wix’s Stores documentation. The only part I checked myself (on 4 November 2026, in the product form of a Wix test site, without saving anything) is that the Add modifier dialog offers the field types Text choices, Color swatches and Text box, with a ”Make this a required field” checkbox. I did not build the full workaround.

  1. Create a product, for example “Board and train”, with one product option such as “Length” with the values 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks.
  2. Set the price of each. Wix says: “for products with options, prices can only be set per variant, not per product option” (Wix request). With a single option, each length is one variant, so you set one flat price per length.
  3. Add a text box modifier for the start date. Wix says “Modifiers can appear as text choices, color swatches, or as text boxes that customers fill in” (Wix guide), and text box modifiers can be set as either required or optional (Wix guide).
  4. Tell clients in the product description that the dates are confirmed by you after the order, and what happens if you can’t take them.

What this does not do: it does not check your kennel or training places, it doesn’t block a date, and a client can type any date. You must confirm or refund each order yourself. For a handful of clients a month that can be enough.

When to use a request form instead

A form with the start date, the number of weeks, the dog’s details and a vaccination upload costs nothing and you quote the flat fee in your reply. The client doesn’t see a price on the site and nothing stops two people asking for the last place.

Where Pet Boarding: Kennel & Daycare fits (mine)

Pet Boarding: Kennel & Daycare adds a booking widget for kennels, catteries and dog daycares. The details come from the app page as I read it on 4 November 2026. If the page differs, the page is right.

What it does not do, from the same page: the page describes pricing per pet per night or day with a long-stay discount, not a fixed flat fee per week of training, and it is a boarding and daycare booking tool, not a scheduler for training sessions. If your price is a flat package, the Stores route above or a quote fits it better.

See it on the Wix App Market.

FAQ

Can Wix Bookings sell a 2-week stay? Not as a course or an appointment. A course needs set start and end dates, and an appointment is limited to 99 hours.

Can I charge a flat price per week on Wix? In Wix Stores, yes: use stay lengths as the options and set a price for each. Wix says prices are set per variant, not per option value. Dates and availability stay manual.

How do I stop two clients booking the same week? Wix’s own tools won’t do it for a Stores product. Confirm each order by hand, or use a booking tool that tracks spaces.

What did you test? I read the Wix pages, the forum thread and the app page on 4 November 2026. In the product form of a Wix test site I opened the Add modifier dialog without saving: it lists the field types Text choices, Color swatches and Text box, and has a "Make this a required field" checkbox. I did not build the whole Stores workaround or place an order, so treat it as a plan to test, not a confirmed result.
