How to export all properties from HubSpot, with their dropdown options
By Kayabyte
You need a list of every property in a HubSpot account for an audit, a migration or documentation: names, internal names, types, groups and dropdown options. HubSpot has this built in. Here is how, what the file contains and what it leaves out.
Export every property (all objects at once)
- Click the settings icon, then Properties in the left sidebar.
- In the upper right, click Export all properties.
- Choose the objects, a file format, and click Export.
HubSpot emails a download link and posts it in the notification center; several objects come as a zip with one file per object. You need export permissions (HubSpot guide).
What is in the file
HubSpot lists each property’s name, internal name, type, description, group, its options (if applicable), the user who created it, where it is used and its fill rate. For contact, company, deal and ticket properties it also has the last updated time and update source. The article does not say whether option internal values are listed beside labels, so open the file and check a dropdown you know before relying on it.
Export one property
Settings > Properties, hover over the property, More > Export property definition. You get a zip with three CSV files: access restrictions, property information and usage in HubSpot tools.
What this export does not do
- It cannot be imported. HubSpot has no import for property definitions, so rebuilding in another account is manual.
- User-based properties. Community members report blank options for Owner and HubSpot Team (Community thread), since those options are your users.
- Records are separate. Exporting records gives property values, not the setup.
Option: the Properties API
Developers can read all properties of an object with GET /crm/properties/2026-03/{objectType} (HubSpot API guide). It needs a private app token and a script, and HubSpot’s page does not spell out the option fields, so inspect a response for a dropdown you know.
Full disclosure: we built an app for this
Bulk Property Import & Export downloads all objects, groups and properties as CSV or JSON with option labels and internal values, in the same columns as its import. You can edit the file and import it again in this account or another one, with a preview first. It also copies a property set between connected accounts and keeps a change log. It asks only for property settings access, never records.
Export is free. Pro (copying between accounts, 12 months of history) is USD 19 per month per HubSpot account; Agency is USD 49 per month for unlimited client accounts. Every new account gets a 14-day Pro trial with no card. Marketplace listing.
FAQ
