Balanced vs DocuClipper, ProperConvert, Dext and Craftybase
By Kayabyte · Last updated 30 October 2026
Short answer: these tools solve different problems. DocuClipper is an online per-page statement converter; ProperConvert is a Mac and Windows converter sold as a subscription; Dext captures receipts and supplier invoices in the cloud and syncs to accounting software; Craftybase is inventory and cost tracking for makers, not a statement converter. Balanced (made by Kayabyte) is a Mac app that converts bank statements, seller payout reports and invoices on your Mac, checks that the totals add up, and writes files for your software. We make Balanced, so check the others on their own sites.

Pick another tool when
- You need cloud sync into QuickBooks Online or Xero, email forwarding, or team access: DocuClipper or Dext.
- You want a long-established local converter on Windows as well: ProperConvert.
- You need to track inventory and the cost of goods you make: Craftybase, alongside a converter.
Pick Balanced when
- Statements, payout reports and invoices should never leave your Mac, and you convert many files without per-page pricing.
- You want a totals check (opening balance plus transactions equals closing balance) and a preview where you fix columns once per bank.
- No AI guessing: every number is copied from the document and checked, by fixed rules and Apple’s on-device text recognition.
- Limits: the free version exports the first 10 lines per file (and up to 3 invoices per export); results depend on layout; macOS 14 or later.
