Is there a Kutools for Mac, and what are the alternatives for Mac?
By Kayabyte · Last updated 1 November 2026
ExtendOffice’s own product page for Kutools for Excel names no Mac version, and a comparison page published by XLclick, a competitor, says there is none. So on a Mac you cannot count on installing it into Excel. If what you bought Kutools for is batch jobs on files (merge, split, compare, clean, find and replace, convert), Gridhand is a Mac app for those jobs. If you need Kutools’ many in-ribbon functions, we found no one-for-one Mac equivalent. We make Gridhand, so check every competitor fact on its own site; the vendor facts below were checked on 1 November 2026.
What Kutools is, and what we could verify
- Sold by ExtendOffice as an add-in for Microsoft Excel, with many tools. Its product page (checked 1 November 2026) says “Works with Excel 365, 2007 and later”, “One-time purchase, lifetime use”, installation on up to two computers per licence, and 2 years of free updates and support.
- Mac: the page names no operating system and no Mac version. XLclick’s comparison page says Kutools is Windows only.
- Running Windows in Parallels on a Mac is the usual way to use Windows add-ins; that needs Windows, a Windows copy of Excel and a Kutools licence.
Which Kutools jobs Gridhand covers
| Kutools-style job | Gridhand |
|---|---|
| Combine workbooks or sheets into one | Merge: into one workbook (a tab per sheet) or one stacked sheet |
| Split a workbook or sheet into files | Split: per sheet, per value in a column, every N rows |
| Compare two sheets or workbooks | Compare: highlighted copy, Summary and Differences sheets |
| Trim spaces, text to numbers, unmerge and fill, remove blank rows, remove duplicates | Clean |
| Find and replace in multiple workbooks | Find and Replace, with regular expressions and a preview |
| Convert between CSV and XLSX | Convert |
What Gridhand does not do
- It is not an Excel add-in: nothing appears in Excel’s ribbon, and it does not edit the open workbook.
- No formula, chart or range helpers (the Kutools tools that edit what you see in Excel).
- No .xls or .numbers files, and no Windows version.
Kutools buyers: where Gridhand is the closer match
If your Kutools use was mostly combining, splitting, comparing and bulk replacing across workbooks, those are Gridhand’s tools, and it shows a preview and a report of what could not be carried over. Prices and the free limit are on the pricing page.
Ablebits on Mac
Ablebits’ Ultimate Suite is a Windows add-in; its system requirements (checked 1 November 2026) list Windows 10 and 11, and the only Mac entry is “Windows 11 on Macs (Parallels, Intel and Apple M)”, not Excel for Mac. Its pricing information on the same page listed a Personal licence at USD 49 for one user on up to 2 computers, with 2 years of updates (checked 1 November 2026). The same trade applies: it is a Windows add-in, and Gridhand is the Mac-native batch tool.
Other options on Mac
- XLclick and XLWizard work inside Excel for Mac as add-ins or macros.
- Withdata Excel Data Transformer is another Mac app that merges and splits workbooks. Its page (checked 1 November 2026) lists macOS 10.15 to Sonoma and Windows builds, a price of “$45.00 or less” and a free trial without stating the trial limits; it does not list Compare or Clean tools there.
- Free: Move or Copy Sheet, Power Query (limited on Mac), macros. See merge Excel files on a Mac.
Questions
Does Kutools work on Mac? Not that we could find. The publisher’s product page does not name macOS or a Mac version, and a comparison page from a competitor (XLclick) says there is none. Check extendoffice.com for the current position.
What replaces Kutools on a Mac? For batch file jobs, Gridhand; for in-Excel add-in tools, XLclick or XLWizard’s Mac-compatible macros and add-ins. None of them is a one-for-one replacement.
Is Gridhand an Excel add-in? No, it is a standalone Mac app.
