Gantt chart across multiple boards in monday.com
By Kayabyte
Short answer: put the Gantt widget on a dashboard and connect your boards to it. That gives one chart, within the dashboard’s limit on connected boards. Items across boards can’t always be put in the order you want, and that’s where people get stuck. Below are the steps, the limits, and what to do when you need a date-sorted or hand-ordered roadmap.
Build it with the Gantt widget
monday.com says the Gantt view and widget are available from the Standard plan.
- Make sure each board has a Timeline or Date column. People, Status and Dependency columns are optional.
- Create a dashboard, or add a dashboard view, and click Connect boards. Choose your boards.
- Add a widget and choose Gantt.
- In the widget settings, choose the timeline column for each board.
- To group, use the Group by option. When you group by a column, Sort options arrange the groups, for example alphabetically.
For a full-screen chart, open the widget’s three-dot menu and choose Dock this widget.
The limits you’ll meet
- Connected boards. monday’s mondayDB 3.0 article lists up to 50 connected boards per dashboard on Enterprise, with more planned. Lower plans have lower limits.
- New boards. A new project board doesn’t appear until someone connects it.
- Order across boards. Community requests from August and September 2026 ask for items sorted earliest to latest across boards, for sorting in the dashboard Gantt, and for a saved manual order. The sort options above apply to groups. Test it with your own data, as monday adds features often.
- Baselines. monday’s Gantt baseline is on Pro and Enterprise, and it’s a snapshot in a Gantt. Check whether it covers your multi-board widget.
- Export. monday’s Gantt article notes an export limit of up to 10 years and 640 items.
Ways around them
One chart per group of boards. Split a large portfolio into several dashboards by department or client. Simple, but you lose the single view.
A summary board. One item per project, with mirrored dates, and a Gantt view on that board. It gives you real sorting because it’s a single board. The cost is keeping it up to date by hand, and connection limits per plan.
A marketplace app. Gantt apps differ, so check what each one reads. Going by their listings:
- YearLine and Interactive Gantt Timeline turn a board into a timeline, and GanttGo makes multi-page exports.
- Project Portfolio Management - PPM and BigPicture PPM are full planning suites across boards.
- Portfolio Roadmap & Timeline is ours: a read-only timeline across up to 500 boards, with workspaces and folders as sources, so new boards join by themselves. It sorts by date across every board, saves a manual order, groups by month or quarter, and rolls up to one bar per board. It has no dependencies or critical path, so it complements the Gantt widget rather than replacing it.
See Portfolio Roadmap & Timeline.
A quick test before you commit
Take your real boards and check three things: does the chart include all of them, can you get the order leadership wants, and can the people who read it open it? The last one often decides it: a dashboard needs a seat or guest access for each reader.
Common questions
Can I show subitems? monday says subitems are supported in the Gantt view and widget. Our app shows items only.
Why are items in a strange order in the dashboard Gantt? Community reports say projects follow creation order. Grouping with sort options can help.
Can I make the left panel wider? That’s another open community request. In our app you can drag it.
