Gridhand vs Kiolix Xel and SysTools Excel Split & Merge on a Mac
By Kayabyte · Last updated 4 November 2026
Short answer: Kiolix Xel is an offline analytics app that builds dashboards from Excel and CSV files; its Mac App Store listing mentions merging sheets but not splitting. SysTools Excel Split & Merge is a split-and-merge tool with a Mac version. Gridhand does batch jobs on files: merge, split, compare, clean, find and replace and convert. We make Gridhand, so the facts about the other two come from the pages named below, read on 4 November 2026. Check their sites before you buy.

Pick another tool when
- You want charts, dashboards and insights from a spreadsheet, not file jobs: Kiolix Xel.
- You only need to cut one big workbook into several files by row count or file size, or merge a few, and you want the lowest price: SysTools.
Pick Gridhand when
- You want to split by the value in a column, compare two workbooks, clean files, or replace text across many files.
- You want a preview, originals that stay untouched, and a report of what could not be carried over.
- Limits: .xls and .numbers are not supported. Gridhand makes new files and does not analyse or chart your data. We could not test the whole-column-formula and no-repair-prompt fixes in real Excel.
What we could and could not verify
- Kiolix Xel (Mac App Store listing, developer HyungGon Baek, checked 4 November 2026): described as an offline Excel analytics tool for Excel and CSV files; subtitle “Merge Sheets & Smart Dashboard”; automatic dashboards, charts and reports; “100% offline (no data upload)”; requires macOS 12.0 or later; version 0.2.5; the listing shows the price as Free and mentions a one-time purchase and a limited-time free promotion. The listing says nothing about splitting. We did not run it.
- SysTools Excel Split & Merge (systoolsgroup.com, checked 4 November 2026): version 3.0 for Mac, 34.7 MB; splits by records count, size and sheets; merges Excel files into one workbook; the demo splits 25 items per Excel sheet; macOS 11.0 or later, Intel or Apple Silicon; the order page lists a Personal licence at USD 29 for one machine and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The Mac page lists a United States region and English language as requirements. We did not run it.
- Prices and features change.
Questions
Can SysTools split an Excel sheet by the value in a column? Its pages list splitting by record count, size and sheets. A split by column value is not listed.
Does Kiolix Xel merge files? Its listing says “Merge Sheets” without detail, so check how it handles files with different columns before relying on it.
Do any of them change my originals? SysTools says it works on a copy of your data. Gridhand writes new files and never changes the originals.
